Kenyans On Twitter react to the sexual assault and suicide of 19-year-old girl

254 is still in shock from the news that a 19-year-old committed suicide after being repeatedly assaulted and threatened by a man she met on Facebook.
Mercy Bundi, left a suicide note in which she named the man and gave details about the incident. Social media was abuzz with Kenyans on Twitter sharing in their two cents as to who is to blame. Here is what
they had to say.
That girl is a victim of TRUST. The discussion should be about the sociopath that took advantage of her naivety not her age or ability — Hannibal (@mokayah)
There so may nineteen year olds stuck in that group but instead of saving them we are just stuck to gender talk..smh — aleckie ronald (@SirAlexas)
Plus if he sent her money it was fare or something, many chicks do that “if he wants to see me atume fare ya kwenda na kurudi” — T (@tianta_)
The man is an evil psychopath. That much nobody can argue against. But the girl should have known better. Tell these other girls now — Lord Kitur (@TheKitur)

When news of this hit the social media website, various celebs' reacted. When I was little I couldn't find a Barbie that looked like me, my...how times have changed: Zendaya wrote an Instagram post. "Thank you @Barbie for this honor and for allowing me to be apart [sic] of your diversification and expansion of the definition of beauty. Can't wait to keep doing amazing things with you:

J Cole in EA, OMG!

Unless you’ve been living on a deserted island befriending coconuts, we’re sure you’ve heard about the Ugandan TV host, Flavia Tumusime who turned down the sexual advances of American Rapper J Cole back in 2012. Tumusime, through a social media post revealed how J Cole asked to talk to her privately as she was attending the 2012 Big Brother Africa after-party. Why three years down the line, we can only guess. Barely a day after blogs highlighted the story, fans of the rapper have come outright attacking her.
But that’s just the cake. Ready for the icing with a cherry on top? NEWSPOT254 got wind that the rapper was in East Africa. He wasn’t as incognito as he thought. He was spotted at Kilimanjaro Airport by a fan who got him to pose for a picture. Seeing as how the American rapper kept the trip under wraps, NEWSPOT254 believe the trip was more of a personal nature. Next time J, head our way.

Man fails to attract girls sues perfume company

Sometimes, all it takes to attract a woman of dreams is confidence and not looks. But a 26-year-old Hindu man thought the secret lies in beauty products.
In 2009, Vaibhav Bedifiled a case against the Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) which owns the Axe brand of men grooming products, for ‘cheating’ and causing him ‘mental suffering’.
The plaintiff cited his failure to attract any girl at all, even though he’s been using Axe products for over seven years yet Axe advertisements suggested the products helps men to instantly attract women. The petitioner surrendered all his used, unused and half-used deodorant sprays, perfume sticks and roll-ons, anti-perspirants, aftershaves, body washes, shampoos, and hair gels to the court, and demanded a laboratory test of the products and narcotics test of the brand managers of Axe.

Mziki Trak software to benefit artistes

KENYAN artistes may benefit from increased royalties as a new platform that detects when a song is played enters the market.
Mziki Trak, is an audio logging software which is able to detect when a song or advert is played, how many times it's played borh on radio or television. It also gives additional reports on the specific region where the song has been played from.
According to the software developers, Kaki Gondi, JamesMantu and David Sinei, Mziki Trak is aimed at bringing about more transparency when paying
out royalties to artistes.
"I have heard that Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) has a similar platform in place. However, as a registered member of MCSK, I do not have access to their software," says Gondi, the head of Mziki Trak,
"So for starters, we are giving free access of the software to artistes, Currently artists can register for it for free on www.mzikitrak.com this will be different
in that it' will give transparency to the whole process of music plays. This will in turn empower artists to re-invest in their craft which in turn improves the quality of the Kenyan music & entertainment industry."

President Obama's cousin, Marie Auma, sues police Sh64M over farting claims

One of Barack Obama's cousins is suing the Met Police for £400,000 pounds over claims colleagues subjected her to a campaign of harassment and passed wind next to her desk.
Marie Auma told a court that officers and staff at Southwark Police Station conspired to bully her - with two officers regularly breaking wind near her in a "primitive" and "loud" manner.
The 57-year-old, who was at American President Obama's inauguration in 2009, claims she was constantly belittled and humiliated between 2007 and 2009.
The harassment began in 2007 when she was refused leave to visit her two brothers' graves after they died in a car crash in Kenya and ended in her being medically retired with mental health difficulties, the court heard.
Ms Auma, of Green Lanes, Palmers Green, north London, is fighting for £400,000 compensation in a trial at Central London County Court. The Met denies liability.
Judge Simon Freeland QC heard Ms Auma, whose job involved liaising with crime victims on the Telephone Investigations Bureau, had been the victim of "21st Century bullying."
Describing how colleagues would break wind next to her, Ms Auma said: "This was happening on the telephone investigation desk.
"It became a common practice and nobody was investigating this behaviour.
"It was two of them - PC Andy Whiting and Ray Clement - who would do this kind of behaviour.
"PC Whiting was passing wind when he came and stood right in front of me, passing wind in a very primitive way. It made a "brrrp" noise.

Busted: KQ Air Hostess nabbed With Sh28 Million Worth Of Heroin

We have heard of stories where people fall from grace to grass in the blink of an eye.
And today, being TBT and all, we take a look at one of the most famous cases of grass to grace, the infamous nabbing of a KQ airhostess, Priscilla Chemutai Kolongoi.
Priscilla enjoyed quite a lovely lifestyle as an air hostess before her life took a rapid nose dive from the skies to the gutters. This is after she was caught trying to smuggle heroin worth 28 million Kshs into the country from India on the fateful morning of March 25 2002.
The high-flying airhostess, was nabbed when she tried to wheel in the 33 packages and 2 sachets of the illegal drug after a obligatory check at customs.

A crime that promised a mandatory life sentence if she was found guilty, lucky for her the judge gave her 18 years along with a fine of Kshs 10 Million. She attempted to untangle herself from this mess but it only made things worse and he fine was raised to 83.4 Million. All this for a job that would have earned her around 210,000 Kshs which was quite a rip-off considering the street value of the drugs she was trying to smuggle in.
Now 13 years later Priscilla Chemutai Kolongoi is free thanks to her good conduct while in jail.

Report also points out the number of casualties could be more since authorities haven’t accounted for everybody.
The number of those injured from the stampede stands at 800, according to figures released by the Saudi government.
Kenyans lead by president Uhuru Kenyatta have been quick to express empathy, condolences
and show concern for the pilgrims following the disaster. ‘Mecca’ is currently trending second on twitter. A number of Kenyan Muslims had also traveled to Mecca.

MDQ releases new single

Kenya’s boss-lady Muthoni the Drummer Queen teamed up with Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones and Nigeria’s MI for her new single Turn On The Lights.
Produced by Swiss Production duo  Jean ‘Hook’ Guisbuller and Greg ‘GR’ Escoffey, the heavy hitting track alternates between energetic, bouncy trap supported by a non-relenting bass line and a spaced out drum heavy chorus, which allows the rappers to deliver their witty, double-entendre punch lines with razor sharp precision and unmitigated flow.
MDQ’s verse is delivered in sheng and proves yet again her poetic depth and fearless attitude as she mocks her imitators while running laps around other rappers. Khaligraph delivers in his characteristic double time flow, while MI’s verse is filled with  metaphors and witty commentary.
