President Obama's cousin, Marie Auma, sues police Sh64M over farting claims

One of Barack Obama's cousins is suing the Met Police for £400,000 pounds over claims colleagues subjected her to a campaign of harassment and passed wind next to her desk.
Marie Auma told a court that officers and staff at Southwark Police Station conspired to bully her - with two officers regularly breaking wind near her in a "primitive" and "loud" manner.
The 57-year-old, who was at American President Obama's inauguration in 2009, claims she was constantly belittled and humiliated between 2007 and 2009.
The harassment began in 2007 when she was refused leave to visit her two brothers' graves after they died in a car crash in Kenya and ended in her being medically retired with mental health difficulties, the court heard.
Ms Auma, of Green Lanes, Palmers Green, north London, is fighting for £400,000 compensation in a trial at Central London County Court. The Met denies liability.
Judge Simon Freeland QC heard Ms Auma, whose job involved liaising with crime victims on the Telephone Investigations Bureau, had been the victim of "21st Century bullying."
Describing how colleagues would break wind next to her, Ms Auma said: "This was happening on the telephone investigation desk.
"It became a common practice and nobody was investigating this behaviour.
"It was two of them - PC Andy Whiting and Ray Clement - who would do this kind of behaviour.
"PC Whiting was passing wind when he came and stood right in front of me, passing wind in a very primitive way. It made a "brrrp" noise.

Busted: KQ Air Hostess nabbed With Sh28 Million Worth Of Heroin

We have heard of stories where people fall from grace to grass in the blink of an eye.
And today, being TBT and all, we take a look at one of the most famous cases of grass to grace, the infamous nabbing of a KQ airhostess, Priscilla Chemutai Kolongoi.
Priscilla enjoyed quite a lovely lifestyle as an air hostess before her life took a rapid nose dive from the skies to the gutters. This is after she was caught trying to smuggle heroin worth 28 million Kshs into the country from India on the fateful morning of March 25 2002.
The high-flying airhostess, was nabbed when she tried to wheel in the 33 packages and 2 sachets of the illegal drug after a obligatory check at customs.

A crime that promised a mandatory life sentence if she was found guilty, lucky for her the judge gave her 18 years along with a fine of Kshs 10 Million. She attempted to untangle herself from this mess but it only made things worse and he fine was raised to 83.4 Million. All this for a job that would have earned her around 210,000 Kshs which was quite a rip-off considering the street value of the drugs she was trying to smuggle in.
Now 13 years later Priscilla Chemutai Kolongoi is free thanks to her good conduct while in jail.

Kenyans React To The Troubling Mecca Tragedy (Photos)

Sad news trickling in from Saudi Arabia indicates several worshippers have died in a stampede during one of the last rituals of the Hajj season.
The annual Muslim Hajj obviously started off on the wrong foot. 10 days before, 2 million pilgrims made their way to Islam’s holiest city, a crane collapsed killing 107 people at a mosque.
And now as Hajj closes down the curtains, catastrophe strikes again. International news outlets indicate that more 700 people have died in a stampede that occurred during a ritual known as ‘stoning the devil’ in the tent city of Mina, in the outskirts of Mecca.
Report also points out the number of casualties could be more since authorities haven’t accounted for everybody.
The number of those injured from the stampede stands at 800, according to figures released by the Saudi government.
Kenyans lead by president Uhuru Kenyatta have been quick to express empathy, condolences
and show concern for the pilgrims following the disaster. ‘Mecca’ is currently trending second on twitter. A number of Kenyan Muslims had also traveled to Mecca.

Bank robber frames self on Instagram

A Virginia man was arrested after he allegedly robbed a bank and posted videos and a photo of the bank robbery on Instagram.
Dominyk Antonio Alfonseca, 23 robbed Town Bank on Constitution Drive in Virginia Beach but was arrested less than 30 minutes later. He posted two videos of the robbery and a photo of the note he had given the teller demanding money to Instagram, subsequently setting  himself up to the authorities.

Political scientist in hot soup for social media remarks

Mutahi Ngunyi, a political scientist famed for his ‘tyranny of numbers’ theory in the run-up to the March 2013 General Election, found himself in trouble after posting a tweet which targeted Luo community.
The tweet elicited resentment with the Law Society of Kenya top official calling for his prosecution.
He made a public apology through his tweeter account, and offered a goat to the LSK chief executive Apollo Mboya, who had lodged a complaint with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) over Mutahi’s offensive tweet.
Mr Mboya will now act as an emissary to the Luo Elders’ Council but it is still not clear whether charges against Mutahi have been withdrawn.

PR executive fired over racist tweet

Justin Sacco, a PR executive, caused a world wide rage after posting a racial tweet before a 12-hour flight from London to Cape Town.
She tweeted “Going to Africa. Hope I don’t get Aids. Lol just kidding I am white.” Throughout the flight she was offline not knowing that her tweet had caused an explosive outrage leading to a worldwide trend #HasJustineLandedYet with people wondering when she’s going to touch down.
Her employer put a final nail on her coffin when it was announced she had been fired for her racist remarks. All this happened as Justin unknowingly glided in the sky enjoying her flight.
She would later land after the 12-hour flight to the unpleasant surprise that her tweet had cost her a job and shot her from a twitter small-wig with only 112 followers to global infamy.

Another baby girl for Rudisha

Olympic champion David Rudisha has not only managed toadd more medals
in his household, but also another family member.
On September 8,the 800 meters champion announced on his Twitter page
the birth of his baby girl.
"The long-awaited queen has arrived today. Iam aproud father.....thanks toGod
both the mother and the child are ok'' he wrote.
This is the second child for Rudisha and his wife Elizabeth Naanyu.The couple has been married for five years.
The news couldn't have come at a better time as he is still celebrating his 'great
comeback' with his first place win in the 800 metres final atthe just concluded IAAF World Athletics Championships inBeijing.

‘Doctor’ in rape probe

A ‘doctor’ has gained infamy after an expose by a media house which revealed a video recording in which the said ‘doctor’ could be seen sexually abusing a sedated patient.
The rogue medical practitioner identified as Mugo wa Wairimu has been operating two clinics in Nairobi’s Githurai 44 and Kahawa West, posing as a gynaecologist.
Apparently he has been sedating patients then raping them.
One of his employees became suspicious of dubious happenings behind
the “doctor’s” closed doors and placed a secret camera which recorded the “doctor” during the heinous misadventure on a sedated patient. It has now been
established that neither the man nor his clinics are registered, and criminal
investigations have been
launched into the matter.

Suspension for sexting during operation

Arthur Zilberstein, a Seattle doctor, had his medical license revoked over allegations he was sending sexually explicit messages as well as bare images of him during surgery.
A 17-page statement of charges from the Washington State Department of Health details 23 incidents in which the said doctor allegedly exchanged personal and often sexually explicit text messages during procedures in which he was the responsible doctor.
The procedures included labor and delivery, including multiple Caesarean section operations.
According to reports, during a single surgical procedure, Zil-berstein is accused of exchanging 45 sext messages, 21 allegedly initiated by him, in which
he allegedly sent pictures of himself in scrubs, with his badge showing and his genitals
exposed.

Teachers break girl’s hand in assault

Violent physical punishment inflicted at the hands of teachers is a regular part
of the classroom experience for many Kenyan children, although the corporal punishment is banned.
A recent case in which teachers beat a Form Four student leaving her nursing multiple fractures on her left arm has shed light on excessive force they sometimes use when dealing with indiscipline.
Three weeks ago, eighteen-year-old Carolyne Njahera Boro, the head girl at Bongo Girls Secondary School in Kinangop, Nyandarua County was allegedly assaulted by three teachers using plastic cords and sticks. This was apparently in a bid to force her to name students suspected of planning unrest in the school.“I feel victimized for nothing. They just picked on me and six other prefects, owing to the positions we hold, and beat us up until they got tired,” said
Carolyne at her home near Kikuyu township.

Activist Boniface Mwangi detained in France

With an influx of refugees being witnessed in Europe, activist Boniface Mwangi found himself in the centre of the crisis with his family as they were allegedly detained by French Authorities at the airport.
According to Bonny as he is locally known, he was detained because he did not have Schengen visas. Non Europeans are required to have special visa that allow them to move around these countries.
“So three hours later in the border police unit (where I had to be escorted to use the toilet, which doesn’t lock) they gave us new boarding passes for a flight leaving tomorrow morning. We went to the Air France office after the police station ordeal with another Kenyan, Evelina Olago, who said they would offer us a hotel for the night, only to come back and inform us that the police said we
couldn’t leave the airport,” he posted on social media.
