Over 100 arrested for lacking toilets in Meru

Over 100 people in Meru county have been arrested for lacking toilets in their homesteads.

The over hundred people were arrested during a crackdown of people without toilets in the Imenti Central of the county.


Imenti Central Director of Public Health Ephantus Kariuki said that the county is working with community health worker to help families construct pit Latrines.

According to Kariuki the crackdown will continue in all sub counties in Meru until all homes in the area have access to toilets.

So far 80 more people have being arrested and prosecuted in other sub counties of Meru county in the ongoing crackdown.
