Diana Opoti: Homosexuals need fairness
FASHION communication and strategist Diana Opoti has written to President Uhuru Kenyatta urging him to review his stand regarding homosexuals in Kenya.
Opoti – who is currently running the second edition of her fashion initiative dubbed 100 Days of African Fashion – took to Facebook saying that homosexuals deserve to be treated fairly.
She wrote (verbatim): “Dear Mr President...I’m a straight woman ...I interact with gay and straight people alike. Our sexuality hardly comes up in conversation, we mostly exist as friends...coworkers ...partners...assuming a world of equality. You know...they don’t bite...sting...or offend us in any way. They want the same things we do..to be with the person they love. Why is that such a mission?”
“But you feel that “the majority in our society yes, do not wish to legalize, yes, this issue of gay rights.” Who’s the majority? Did we vote? Do you realize that your statement stamps the fate of many gay people who are then ostracized? Did we vote?
Who is the majority? Who gives us the right to judge and malign others of a different sexual orientation? Confused Kenyan citizen/ #NotTheMajority (sic),” she said.

Isabella Lyrics - Sauti Sol
Hey Isabella
Are you gonna come out and dance, with me tonight
The stars look beautiful, outside, so so beautiful
Tell your mama i said sorry
I didn't bring you home early, last time
And I was a little tipsy
I know she doesn't miss me
So put on those shoes, that I like
And we'll go, and dance the night away
Away, Yeah!!

Popular pastor's wife hangs out with drinking friends
The wife of a popular televangelist was spotted in one of the restuarants in Westlands, Nairobi, having jolly good time with her drinking friends. The female pastor was in the company of middle-aged women who were chugging expensive wine and imported beer at the restuarant.
However, the flashy woman of God ordered mocktails. Together with her husband, they are known for their ostentatious lifesyle. At the end of the evening when the bill was brought one would have expected the jet setting wife of the pastor to pay the bill for her pals but everyone chipped in and paid for the bill.
It goes to show that pastors' wives also have friends away from the flock. Friends who know how to live it up.

"MORGAN HERITAGE BRING MORE THAN JUST MUSIC TO KENYA
TOMORROW night, visiting reggae legends Morgan Heritage will thrill fans in a one off concert at KICC in Nairobi. However, the reggae royal family that jetted into Kenya on Tuesday night had a busy itinerary.
On Wednesday, they visited Korogocho where they took part in a Miss Koch event where 40 children were presented with university scholarships to further their education .
"We are hoping that the visit by Morgan Heritage will shine a light into what Miss Koch is doing for the slum children," Tru Balq CEO Big Kev said."
Yesterday the Don Hafi Dread hitmakers had lunch at K'Osewe so as to have the best "Kenyan experience". After which they paid a courtesy call to Nairobi governor Evans Kidero at his office. Later that evening they attended a " private event".
Speaking of their experience in Kenya, Peetah Morgan said, "My most memorable moment of Kenya is when we had a road trip to Kisumu and had lunch at the shores of Lake Victoria." "They served us a big fish. I remember telling Peetah, 'This tastes like Jamaica'," Gramps Morgan added, "I took the fish and seasoned it my way."
Gramps went on to talk about his cook book that details the history of jerk seasoning. The book is published under his food line Gramps' Farms. The company was inspired by his late Mother Pearl, when he saw her chew and feed an old homeless woman sugar cane straight from her mouth because the old woman had no teeth to chew the sugar cane. Beside food, Gramps has a label that will also distribute Wyre's album outside Africa. Morgan Heritage fans who were expecting to see Una Morgan will be disappointed because she couldn't make it due to family obligations. Peetah explained, "Our sister is a mother as well as much as she would have loved to be here, her second son has started college in the USA and she had to be there for him. She promised to be here next time."

Local celebrities speak out on cyber-bullying
When news broke that a 19-year-old committed suicide after being sexually abused and bullied by her Facebook lover, the country was outraged. Cyber bullying had claimed yet another victim. NEWSPOT254 takes a close look at local celebrities who have gone through it and spoken out.
It takes a different kind of courage to stand tall in the face of malicious, targeted and constant criticism, and not many can claim to have it. From abusive text messages to personal insults on Twitter and Facebook,
cyber-bullying is on the rise. The latest victim? Nineteen-year-old Mercy Bundi.
We live in a culture of digital cruelty that no one is immune to. Whether you are a celebrity, the child of a public figure or the common mwananchi. Anyone can be a target.
However, celebrities are usually on the receiving end of vicious cyber bullying. And while some of them bury their heads in the sand and wait for it to blow over, others speak up. And like some of these celebrities, we should also take a stand.
Juliana Kanyomozi
Losing a loved one, more so a child is one the most heartbreaking experience anyone can go through
but many people did not think of this while attacking the beautiful songstress as she was mourning her son
last year. Instead of sympathising with the Ugandan songbird, social media users tore her down even more
by insulting and calling her offensive names.
Adelle Onyango
The radio presenter is no stranger to cyber bullying making her develop quite the thick skin. Sometime back, a social media user compared her to a monkey. Adelle used the opportunity to encourage others who might be going through the same. Posting the photoshopped meme showing the rude and insulting juxtaposition
of a monkey next to her, Adelle had this to say: “Bumped into this in my mentions. Ever since my first stint
with cyber bullying and being involved in the Inua Dada campaign handling bullying and its effects, I have done a lot of reading on it. Seeing the number of suicides linked to bullying broke my heart. Your memes/tweets etc could be the last nail in someone’s coffin…you ready to live with that? And #teamadelle y’all are young people some of whom are being bullied now…it is not a reflection of your character
or your beauty - no. But a reflection of the bully’s damaged character! I hope these words do something for you! Keep smiling!”
We hoped we’d heard the last of this tale, but another cyber bully targeted the presenter. Adelle confronted her saying that “she does not subscribe to her definition of beauty.”
Larry Madowo
The TV personality is no stranger to cyber bullets. He has been attacked mercilessly on countless occasions
on social media. Outrageous memes of the presenter have circulated online punctuated by disturbing captions.
Having had his fair share of online abuse and humiliation, Larry penned an unapologetic tell off article directed to online bullies. “Anybody who engages in cyberbullying is really just trying to cover up their own feelings of inadequacy and disillusionment with life,” he wrote in the September 2014 article.
Linda Nyangweso
After a photo of the bubbly radio presenter found its way to Twitter, a section of Kenyans on Twitter saw this as the perfect opportunity to attack the presenter over her weight. Here’s what she said; “OMG.Woke up this morning to realise people have discovered my secret: I’M FAT!!*#brushshoulder*#whatsnew
#livingmylifelikeitsgolde! LOL”
Linda went ahead to add that her “being a big girl isn’t exactly news let alone Kenya’s best kept secret.”
Janet Mbugua
The screen siren was trolled for being on screen while pregnant. The news anchor was bewildered when
she found herself in the midst of an Internet storm. One guy sent her a vicious tweet aimed at gnawing the sassy presenter’s self esteem. He tweeted , “Just wondering why Janet Mbugua must newscast in that condition. Never seen it before on Kenyan TV but I think it’s gross.”
Being human, Janet was rattled by the comment and cited being hurt. “I had sat in my car and was about
to turn on the ignition but the tweet stopped me dead in my tracks. I usually pay no mind to people trolling
me, that will always be there, but this was an insult to every expectant mother and I was deeply offended by
his ignorance, bullying and insensitivity…” she wrote on a blog post.
Janet was not to take this one sitting, so she slammed the trolls while simultaneously receiving outpouring support from a legion of social media followers.

Sh100,000 cash bribe divides FKF North Western branch
A near scuffle ensued in Bungoma last Friday when officials from the North Western branch clashed over Sh100,000 which was donated by a candidate seeking the federation’s top position during the November 13 polls.
The near fight started when one of the senior branch officials raised an alarm over the money
sent to the branch to be shared among four sub branches. The official claimed that he was dismayed that a senior official who received the cash had not told members of the developments and demanded that the cash be released and shared in the open. The senior official who was in procession of the cash tried to defend himself that the money was a personal donation meant for his campaigns but later gave in to the pressure and shared it.

GOSPEL singer Rufftone will be getting a diplomatic passport after he was reappointed Korea's goodwill envoy for public diplomacy.
