KRA Officials to be vetted in bid to stop corruption

Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) officials will be vetted in a bid to stop corruption in the Authority.

According to President Uhuru Kenyatta the staff will be vetted among others who handle sensitive tax matters. 

Uhuru has called on the Treasury and the KRA board to move with speed and ensure audit is done to stop theft at KRA.

“I am directing the treasury to work with the board of KRA to ensure speedy implementation of a progress vetting framework...” Uhuru said.

The president has also asked the treasury and the board to avoid any victimization of staff during the exercise.

Uhuru was saying this while presiding over this years tax payers day at KICC in Nairobi.

Treasury CS Henry Rotich also confirmed that the exercise will target KRA officials who deal with tax matters.
