A five chiefs illicit brew crackdown in
Ngelani, Athiriver in Machakos county has seen 1,200 litres of Kangara
nabbed and destroyed.
The illicit brew was nabbed by the chiefs hidden along the Athi river bank at the Ngelani section.
According to Mulolongo area chief David Kilonzo who was among the 5 chiefs, 5 drums of the brew were filled while the rest were half filled.
“We have nabbed 1,200 litres of Kangara, we have destroyed some of it and carried the amount that we could manage” Kilonzo confirmed.
Kilonzo has either added that nobody was arrested in the crackdown and asked area residents to work together to help them fight illicit brew in the area.
“We have not arrested anybody because they hide the brews in the bushes, we just find where they hide it” Kilonzo added.
A similar crackdown was carried out at Mwala where a 55 years old woman was arrested and taken to Masii police station with 60 litres of Karubu.
