Ulinzi captain stays put that the soldiers’ must work harder to keep hopes of retaining title in Uganda alive

Ulinzi Stars captain Evans Amwoka has said the soldiers’ have to work extra hard in a bid to successfully defend Military Games title in Uganda.

Goals from Amwoka, John Makwata and Kevin Amwayi gave the soldiers their first win in the tournament against Burundi on Tuesday after a barren draw against Rwanda’s APR in the opening fixture.

However, the skipper feels his side must improve in order to win the tournament for the third time consecutively.

“I am happy with the result; it is what we wanted after our opening match. Yes we want to defend our title but we need to put more efforts in order to achieve the fete. Teams are prepared, not only us and that is why it will be difficult for us. We just need to be focused in all the matches.

“Tanzania will be a difficult match, we know they are no pushovers remember they got a point from Uganda so it shows their capability. But I thank my fellow players for today’s (Tuesday) result and I hope we can do better in the other matches.”

Ulinzi Stars now lead their Group with four points, with Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda having a point each as Burundi lies in the bottom of the table.
