Airtel has connected Kisumu and Nyeri
police Headquarters to the internet for free. Police officers from
the two County Headquarters will benefit from
the Internet program,
allowing them to access
information related to
security which will
go a
long way in helping them
enhance security in their respective
Counties.
With free internet connection, police
offices will
also be able to access
intelligence information
and news online, enabling
them to be
proactive in
keeping up with security
"content and updates
that
will enable them serve
people from the two
Counties better.
"Airtel recognizes that
communication is very
crucial when it comes to
security. Access to
reliable
communication will open
up superior channels of
communication,giving
the police officers an opportunity to take
security
control to a whole new level;' said Airtel Kenya
CEO Adil
El Youssefi.
Airtel has so far connected two
County Police
Headquarters and two
Police stations to th e internet
for free through this
program. These include
Machakos County
Police
Headquarter, Kakamega
County Police Headquarter, Kayole
Police Station
and Embakasi Police Station .
Airtel also continues
to connect more
schools
to the internet for free
through its community
flagship
program, Internet for Schools, offering
hundreds of thousands
of
students free 24 hours
access to th e Internet, allowing them to
have access to unlimited amount
of educational material and
information available
online hence broadening
their learning.
The company has
so far connected
over
140 schools and institutions across the country
impacting over
300,000
students to-date , with a
plan of connecting at least
I
million students to the
internet by the end of the
financial year.
